Pipes are cylindrical, cross sectional conveyers primarily used to convey liquids and gasses. Although primarily used for conveyance, pipes can also be used for structural applications. Tube and Pipes might be generally used together as a common term, but both have different purposes. Pipes are generally defined by a minimal diameter and constant outer diameter, while tubes are defined by outer diameter and wall thickness. Pipes manufacturing and installation is regulated by norms under ASME B31 series. All pipe manufacturing plants will take measures and test product for chemical composition and carry out test for mechanical strength.
